INTRODUCTION :

GTC industries formerly known as Golden Tobacco (Pvt.) Ltd., was established by the visionary late Shri Narsee Monjee, in the year 1930 in Mumbai, (Maharashtra) and went public in the year 1970. This wholly indigenous company captured a substantial domestic market share and marked its presence in the overseas market also. To expand and grow further, the company established its full-fledged manufacturing unit at Baroda (Gujarat) in the year 1972. Later, in the year 1979, the company was taken over by "Dalmia brothers" which has interests in various other industries covering telecommunication, explosives, chemicals, textiles, dairy products, holiday resorts etc.

Nurtured under the leadership & guidance of Mr. J P Khetan the Managing Director of GTCIL, the company is a valid example of contemporary manufacturing techniques, good HR practice & quality control systems. The major brand & brand extensions being manufactured at both the units are Panama, Chancellor & Golden's Gold Flake. The heritage brand "Taj" has still got strong consumer recall & is being manufacturing here have confirmed their presence in the emerging export markets

Fully governed by implementation of ERP systems & well experienced team members, both the manufacturing units can be classified into 2 manufacturing zones (Primary & Secondary). The 1st manufacturing zone— PMD (Primary Manufacturing Division) is a Tobacco Processing Plant, which is established at GTC-Vadodara, caters to the needs of the factory, as well as the requirements of Mumbai unit. The manufacturing technique of STS (Steam Tunnel System) in CRS process line, concept of Computer Aided Machines in Weigh Conveyors, Rotary drying method of lamina & use of CLD (Cased Leaf Drying) plant in the treatment of Burley Grades of tobacco, have made the PMD  comparable to any leading tobacco processing company. This is evident in the quality & taste of the cut tobacco.

The 2nd manufacturing zone— SMD (Secondary Manufacturing Division) is the place where making & packing of cigarettes is being done. It is a fully automated area equipped with LOGO, PLCs & VFDs designed to optimize the overall equipments effectiveness. The uses of GD X2 packers & shrink tunnels are effectively done for matching superior quality HLPs (Hinge Lid Packs) with higher efficiency & better quality. Designed by some of the experienced engineers in the industry, the Link-ups & CFC closures eliminate the chances of manual handling of the  cigarettes at any stage of the production.

In keeping with its strategy of providing quality cigarettes to its national & international customers, GTC-Vadodara factory has recently  implemented ISO 9001:2000 & has been certified by world's one of the most reputed accreditation agency RWTUV. Managed by a mix of experienced & professionally qualified front line managers, the factory has been appreciated for its good house keeping & waste control techniques. The focus of top management to sustain the factory's excellence by disciplined & empowered employees is evident in the unit's quality policy.
